Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote this dedication song drawing from Joshua 24:15 ('As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD') and Romans 12:1's call to present oneself as a living sacrifice. The song became one of the Gaithers' most widely recorded hymns and was adopted as a dedication hymn at ordinations, confirmations, and consecration services throughout evangelical Christianity.
