Jdg 9:31, margin for "privily." The Septuagint, Chaldee, and Rashi translated "secretly"; Hebrew "in deceit," as he had listened to the speech quietly with apparent assent. But Kimchi "in Tormah" a misspelling for Arumah (Jdg 9:41).

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia on Tormah

Tormah tor'-ma (tormah, "fraud"; Codex Vaticanus en kruphe, "in secret," Codex Alexandrinus meta doron, "with gifts"): This name is given in EVm as an alternative to "privily" , or "craftily" the Revised Version (British and American) (Jg 9:31). Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible on Tormah

In the margin of Jg 9" 'in Tormali' is given as an alternative rendering of the Hebrew word translated 'craftily' (AV 'privily'). Some commentators have suggested that Torniah is a corruption of Arumah (v.") ; but there is no evidence one way or the other. The text certainly appears to be corrupt. See Moore, ad loc. C. W. Smith's Bible Dictionary on Tormah

occurs only in the margin of (Judges 9:31) By a few commentators it has been conjectured that the word was originally the same with Arumah in ver. 41.
