Matthew and Mark both tell the full banquet story as a flashback, but Mark's version is nearly twice as long and is the most detailed narrative about anyone other than Jesus in his Gospel. Mark portrays Herod as conflicted, "glad" to hear John, while Matthew presents him as simply wanting to kill John but fearing the crowd. Luke omits the banquet entirely.
Detailed flashback narrative of the banquet.
