At sunset, crowds bring the sick and demon-possessed. Jesus heals many and casts out demons, fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy about bearing infirmities.

Matthew connects the healings to Isaiah 53:4 ("He took our infirmities and bore our diseases"), applying a Servant Song passage to physical healing rather than atonement. Mark and Luke note that Jesus silenced demons who knew his identity.
