An open plain between Mina and Mount Arafat where Hajj pilgrims gather on the night of 9–10 Dhu al-Hijjah to pray, sleep under the stars, and collect pebbles for the Rami (stoning of the devil) ritual.
Significance
An obligatory stop (wajib) during Hajj; pilgrims perform the combined Maghrib and Isha prayers here and collect 49–70 pebbles for throwing at the Jamarat pillars in Mina.
