Our Story

Biblexika started with a simple frustration: why is it so hard to study the Bible deeply without paying for expensive software or navigating cluttered, ad-heavy websites? Scripture belongs to everyone. The tools to understand it should too.

We are Martin and Valeria, the founders of Biblexika, based in Zurich, Switzerland. We built Biblexika because we believe the Bible is one of the most important texts in human history, and everyone deserves access to serious study tools, original language analysis, and scholarly perspectives, regardless of their budget, language, or location.

Today, Biblexika offers a Bible reader, encyclopedia, Greek and Hebrew lexicons, commentaries, a timeline, reading plans, devotionals, and much more. 99% of it is completely free, and always will be.

Why a GmbH, Not a Non-Profit?

People sometimes ask why Biblexika is run by a company (GmbH) rather than a non-profit or church organization. The answer comes down to independence and speed.

As a GmbH, we answer to our users, not to donors, boards, or denominational interests. No organization can pressure us to present one tradition's reading as "the" reading. No sponsor can ask us to downplay scholarship that challenges popular assumptions. Our editorial independence is non-negotiable, and a commercial structure is the simplest way to protect it.

It also means we can move fast. When a user requests a feature, we can build it next week, not next fiscal year after a board vote. When scholarship evolves, we can update our content immediately. Biblexika is a living platform, and we need the freedom to treat it like one.

How We Think About Money

We practice what we call ethical capitalism. That means revenue exists to serve the mission, not the other way around. Concretely:

  • 99% free, forever. All Bible content, study tools, lexicons, commentaries, and encyclopedia articles are free. A Pro subscription unlocks AI-powered features and advanced reader tools.
  • Clean, distraction-free experience. We are funded through Pro subscriptions and prefer to keep the platform focused on study, not monetization.
  • Invest in the product and people. Revenue goes back into Biblexika: more languages, more Bible translations, better tools, fair compensation for contributors.
  • Give back. We believe in sharing what we build. Our data sources are open and properly attributed, and we actively support the open-source Bible data ecosystem that makes projects like this possible.

One of our biggest ongoing investments is expanding Bible translation access. Most modern translations are commercially licensed, and each one can cost significantly per user to include. We are committed to adding more translations over time, and Pro subscriptions directly fund this effort.

A Living Platform

Biblexika is not a finished product. It is a living platform that evolves with its community. We ship updates frequently, sometimes daily, because we believe a study tool should grow alongside the people using it.

We actively listen to feature requests, bug reports, and feedback. If you have an idea for how Biblexika could serve you better, we want to hear it. Many of our best features started as a single message from a user.

You can reach us anytime at info@biblexika.com or through the feedback form on the site. We read everything.

Supporting Biblexika

The best way to support Biblexika is to use it and share it with others. If you want to go further, a Pro subscription directly funds new features, additional Bible translations, and more language support.

We also welcome sponsors and donors who share our vision. As a GmbH, we cannot offer tax-deductible donation receipts. What we can offer is transparency about how funds are used, and Pro license coupons (monthly, yearly, or lifetime) that sponsors can share with their community or use themselves.

If you represent a church, school, or organization and would like to discuss a partnership, reach out to info@biblexika.com.

The Team

Biblexika is built by Martin and Valeria in Zurich, Switzerland. We are a small, independent team, and we like it that way. It means every decision is made by people who actually use the product.
