Bakemeats (Hastings' Dictionary)
Gn b. for I'haraoli' (Heb. Pharaoh's bakers' work'). Dr. Murray {Orf. Eng. Diet.) gives the meaning of b. as simply 'pastry, a pie.' It is any kind of meat baked or cooked: cf. Chaucer, I'rulugiie to Cnnt. Talcs, 345 — * Withoute bake rapte was never hU hoiu Of tleisach and ftssch.'
