The steward (^Trir/MTTos) of Herod Antipas. His wife JoANNA (which see) was one of the women who ministered to our Lord and His disciples (Lk 8'). See Palestine. The term is also, perhaps, used of the neighbourhood of Jerus. in a later age, Neh 3''^ 12^ (A'^ 'plain,' 'plain country').
