The name of a Levitical family. In 1 Ch 15'*- ^ 16' Sheiuiramoth appears in the list of tlie members of David's choirs, while in 2 Ch 17' the same name occurs amongst the Le\'ites sent by Jehoshapliat to teach in the cities of Judah. In both cases a guild or family rather than an individual is probably to be thought of. SHEMUEL (SxiOy', the name which, following the LXX and Vulg.

, is, in the case of the prophet, transliterated in EV Samuel [AV has Shemuel in 1 Ch 6^ ; on the derivation and meaning of the name see art. Samuel, and Gray, HPN 200, n. 3]). — 1.
