John provides the most detailed account, including the locked doors, the greeting of peace, and the breathing of the Holy Spirit. Luke adds the physical proof of eating broiled fish. Mark's longer ending mentions this appearance in a single verse, focusing on Jesus rebuking their unbelief. The relationship between John's "Receive the Holy Spirit" here and Luke's Pentecost in Acts 2 is a significant theological question.
