Pushkar

About
A small holy city on the shores of Pushkar Lake in Rajasthan, Pushkar is home to the only Brahma temple in the world — Lord Brahma (the creator deity) is rarely worshipped in India, and this is his singular major shrine. The sacred lake (Pushkar Sarovar) was created when a lotus fell from Brahma's hand, and bathing in its waters is believed to wash away all sins.
Significance
Pushkar's unique status as the site of the world's only Brahma temple reflects a fascinating theological fact: Brahma, despite being one of the Hindu Trinity with Vishnu and Shiva, is rarely worshipped because of a curse placed on him. The annual Pushkar Camel Fair, held at Kartik Purnima, transforms the desert town into one of the most colorful festivals on earth, combining a livestock market, pilgrimage, and cultural festival.
